About Us
The Story of Red Brick Theatre
Red Brick Theatre is a new theatre company, based in Hamilton, Ontario, dedicated to professionally-produced scripted and unscripted comedy in all its forms, primarily through live shows and events. We will present multi-day and single-day shows, one-time and recurring shows. Our plan is to develop our own shows for presentation both in Hamilton and on tour, as well as bringing established professional comedy shows to Hamilton audiences.
The goal is to develop a full-time theatre company dedicated to the comedic arts that presents in its own venue, while also touring shows we have created and developed, and also other comedy events at venues around the Hamilton area.
Our debut production was a fully-improvised tribute to Hallmark movies, “End With a Kiss”, created by our founder, Craig Logue, that premiered at the Hamilton Fringe Festival in July 2022. This will be followed up with an encore presentation in December 2022. Other shows will follow, with more details coming soon.
Red Brick will be incorporating as a not-for-profit organization in the summer of 2022.
We hope you’ll come join us!
What's In a Name?
How We Got The Name Red Brick Theatre
Red Brick Theatre’s name is a nod to both our city of origin and the most famous comedy backdrop.
Hamilton, Ontario has famously made red bricks for generations at the brickworks near Gage Park, while the majority of the buildings in Hamilton have historically been built with red bricks, many from that same brickworks.
We’re also named after the most famous backdrop for comedy shows: the red brick wall.
With red brick featuring prominently in both Hamilton and comedy, the name seemed perfect.
